January 2009

Dear Friends in Christ,

To live in fear is a terrible thing! But when one is constantly living with the threat of a job loss or deteriorating health and escalating bills, it is very difficult not to be fearful. There is plenty of brokenness in our lives and in the world that seeks to suck the life out of us.

But God would not have it that way. Into the middle of that tension and fear God has put His imprint of grace. God chose to enter into human history with the gift of His Son, Jesus. And in Him God gives us a place of refuge and peace. The angels sang it, “And on earth peace…,” and the shepherds hurried to find him, because to them and for us a Savior was born.

As we journey into the unknown of 2009 there is much to make us fearful. But even as we fear the worst, God has in mind for us the best. The rescue process has already been put in motion. Our Savior has come among us and goes ahead of us to take on the battle with darkness and death. God will win.

It is indeed a difficult thing to live in fear. But as people gathered under the grace of God we are called to come out of the fear and to trust our lives into the hands of a loving God. Jesus says to you today, “Do not let your heart be troubled and do not be afraid.” (John 14:27) Remember God has your good in mind and all will be well.

Blessings on your journey…..
